Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State will before the end of this week name former member of the House of Representatives from Akure, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (ABENA) as the new Secretary to the State Government, SSG.
According to a government house source, yesterday night, Abegunde’s name has been signed, stamped and sealed by the Governor for the position.
During the week, Reporter gathered that the Muslim community in the State prevailed on Mr. Akeredolu to appoint a Muslim as his Secretary. It was gathered that Alhaji Nureni Akorede’s name was forwarded to him for approval for the position but the Governor said to have preferred Abegunde which he described as a ‘loyal and dedicated’ person.
The source said the newly appointed Chief Press Secretary, Sunday Ajoboye is expected to announce Abegunde before the week ends.
Popularly called ‘Abena’ by his loyalist, Mr. Abegunde was born on 5th May, 1955. He represented Akure South/North federal constituency in the National Assembly from 2003-2007 and 2011-2015.
